Exporting your contacts to Sage Line 50

Keeping your contacts in sync with Sage Line50 is easy with Okappy.

To upload multiple contacts to Sage, follow the steps below:

1. Generate your list of contacts in Okappy

You can export your customers or subcontractors into Okappy.

  • Go to Reports
  • Click Other
  • Select either Customers or Subcontractors
  • Click the Export to Microsoft button
  • Select Download file

Your contacts will be downloaded.

2. Download the Sage export template

From the Main menu within Sage,

  • Click Reports
  • Click Lists
  • Click Customers
  • Click Select All
  • Click OK
  • Go to the File menu on the report
  • Click EXPORT
  • Click Save as 
  • Ensure the .csv option is selected
  • Choose a location on your computer
  • Click Save

The template file will be downloaded to your computer.

3. Copy your list of contacts

  • Open the download file you created earlier with Okappy
  • Open the Sage template file
  • Copy and paste the contacts of the Okappy file into the Sage template file from row 3 onwards
  • Ensure the details are in the correct Sage columns
    • Company
    • Contact
    • Street
    • Street 1
    • City
    • Province
    • Country
    • Zip code
    • Phone
    • Phone
    • Fax
    • E-mail
    • Website
  • Save the file

4. Import your contacts into Sage Line 50

In Sage Line 50,

  • Click the File menu
  • Click Import/Export.
  • Click Import Records.
  • Select Sage 50 import format.
  • Click Next.
  • Click Back Up to create a backup for the company before importing.
  • After the backup is successful, click Next.
  • Click the Browse button next to the Customers box.
  • Select the CSV file that you saved down previously
  • Click Next.
  • Sage 50 will show a log of all the customers that were added, and the reason why some were not added (if there were any).
  • Click Finish

Your contacts will be created in Sage Line 50.
